The rise of fascism in Europe has been well-documented\, but the home-grown Nazi movement it inspired is rarely discussed. This booklet is a compilation by participants who mounted successful campaigns to counter burgeoning fascist movements in New York\, Minneapolis and Los Angeles\, where they confronted organizations like the German-American Bund and the Silver Shirts\, which emerged out of North Carolina\, and demagogues like Father Coughlin\, an ultra-right Catholic priest. Their stories contain valuable lessons for today’s anti-fascist activists in how we can unite unions\, leftists and community organizations to effectively oppose racism\, anti-Semitism\, misogyny and red-baiting.
