SUMMARY:Pass the Pro Act Phone Banking
DESCRIPTION:Together we have made well over 700\,000 dials across Arizona\, Maine\, West Virginia\, and Virginia. We talked with thousands of people about why we need to pass the PRO Act to rebuild a fighting labor movement—and got them to action with us to pressure their Senators about the bill. \nRegister here. \nBy building that pressure with regular people across the country\, we flipped Senator Angus King of Maine and Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia to support the PRO Act. And we are now targeting Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). \nJoin us to reach our goal of **one million dials** to working people in Alaska\, Arizona\, and Virginia!\n \nRegister here. \nEvery shift has a thorough training on the campaign and the software—beginners and experienced phone bankers are all very\, very welcome. Sign up for as many shifts as you can\, and bring your friends! \nWEEKENDS OF ACTION\nAll out to reach a million calls! Double the shifts for double the pressure!\nJoin us for our shifts on:\nMay 22\, May 23\, May 29\, and 30. \nSee you on the phones!

SUMMARY:Adam Smith: No More Excuses! End the war in Yemen!
DESCRIPTION:No More Excuses! Adam Smith\, use your power as chair of the House Armed Services Committee to actually help end the war in Yemen\nWashington congress-member Adam Smith has been the powerful chair of the Armed Services Committee since 2019. He has added language to the Defense Authorization Act to end US funding for the war in Yemen\, knowing full well that the Senate version will restore the funding\, and always allowing the funding to be restored when the two versions are reconciled. This way he can have his cake and eat it too — claiming to be fighting to end the war and suffering\, while not expending any political capital to make it happen.\n \nEnough is enough!\n \nAs part of the January 25 International Day of Action on Yemen\, we demand that Adam Smith do the right thing for once\, and use his power and his position and work with the Democratic controlled Senate and the Biden administration to immediately stop this genocidal war — because without US logistical and intelligence support\, the Saudi-led effort will come to an end.\n \nTo participate\, write a letter on ActionNetwork and share on social media.\n \nPlease note that the petition site will only send the letter if you live in Adam Smith’s district. If your address does not fall in his district\, you may get a “no recipients were found” error message.

SUMMARY:March for Accountability: Defund SPD & Reinvest in Communities!
DESCRIPTION:Community\, we have to continue to fight for change\, we need to take to the streets and let Mayor Jenny Durkan know we want our demands met. Join Shaun Scott\, and others as we march for our demands. Community\, come stand as we amplify black voices and impacted families in the movement. \nWe the people deserve to live free of police brutality\, chronic community underfunding\, harassment\, and displacement. Instead of taking meaningful action to change this brutal system\, our mayor has continued to defend the violent actions of the Seattle Police\, while rejecting our demands for justice. The mayor has ignored the demands of the movement and victim’s family members\, and we want answers. Help us protect our city and ask Mayor Durkan: whose side are you on? \nJoin us this Sunday at Magnuson Park for a rally and march. We will demand that the City of Seattle defund SPD\, reinvest in Black communities and other communities of color that have been disenfranchised\, and demand justice for the families and communities affected by police violence. If Mayor Durkan still refuses to honor her constituents’ demands and stop the violence\, then we will demand that the city council immediately impeach her. \nThis family-friendly\, peaceful march will stay on public property\, and has an organized security plan\, including a bike brigade and peacekeepers. \nOUR SHARED DEMANDS: \n1. Drop the lawsuits that seek to destroy King County’s inquest process (Renton\, Federal Way\, Kent\, Auburn\, and the King County Sheriff office).\n2. Officer Jason Anderson and Steven McNew: Drop your lawsuit against King county prohibiting the family of Charleena Lyles from getting answers.\n3. Defund the Police and Reinvest in Community.\n4. Mayor Durkan: resign.\n5. Release the protesters arrested during the uprising without charges \nPlease support Charleena Lyles’ family’s email campaign: tinyurl.com/dropyourlawsuit \nFor years\, Mayor Durkan has betrayed families who have lost loved ones to the police – and ignored the demands of our communities. The mayor claims that Black Lives Matter\, but her actions speak louder than her words: inaction in holding killer cops accountable\, overseeing the violent repression of our protests with chemical weapons and the detainment of protesters of color\, making backroom deals with developers that displace communities of color\, continuing “sweeps” of homeless encampments\, and shutting down efforts to tax her corporate campaign contributors to fund housing for Black and working-class families. \nThis Pride weekend\, we choose to honor the spirit of Stonewall\, a Black- and Brown-led uprising against police brutality. Pride is not only a celebration\, but a commitment to carry on the fight for Black\, Brown\, and queer liberation. We ask Mayor Durkan: honor the legacy of Pride this weekend by agreeing to the people’s demands. \nTIMELINE\n5:00 pm Gather\n5:30 pm Rally\n6:00 pm March\n6:30 pm Final Rally\n7:30 pm March back together \nLOCATION INFO\nMagnuson Park baseball fields\nNorthwest of Park and Ride Magnuson Frog Pond\nDue South of Magnuson Tennis Center Public Parking Lot
