SUMMARY:GREEN NEW HOMES / TAX AMAZON DISTRICT 3 Phonebank
DESCRIPTION:Since January\, the Tax Amazon coalition has been fighting for Seattle to pass a tax on the 800 richest corporations to provide immediate financial aid to the 100\,000 Seattleites most in need and to fund the construction of union-built green housing and home retrofitting. On Thursday though\, three Democrat Seattle City Councilmembers shelved the bill the Tax Amazon coalition has been fighting for. The Council’s decision is a wake-up call that we need to ramp up pressure on them by preparing to take this matter directly to the voters — and we need all SDSA members’ help to go all out to collect the required signatures by July 1st. \nIn the past week all Seattle DSA members should have received a newsletter and the Tax Amazon / Green New Homes petition in the mail with the request to sign it and to mail it back.  This is an important way we’re going to help get the 30\,000 signatures needed to get on the ballot by July 1st. \nJoin SDSA District 3 members in calling other District 3 members to encourage them to sign and mail in the petition and it get involved in the movement to Tax Amazon. We’ll have a brief zoom to get everyone prepared for the phonebank.  \nThe zoom info will be posted in the District 3 slack channel or text 402-915-1242.

SUMMARY:Tax Amazon / Green New Homes Campaign is heating up! How can we take on big business and win? Next District 3 Mtg
DESCRIPTION:This past week three Democrats on the Seattle City Council shelved the bill our coalition has been fighting for to tax Amazon and the 800 richest corporations in Seattle to provide immediate Covid economic relief to the 100\,000 people in Seattle most in need. It would also fund the construction of union-built\, green\, social housing and environmental retrofitting of homes starting next year. \nIt’s clear\, if we want to tax big business we’re going to need to take this to the ballot. \nJoin District 3 members to discuss what the Tax Amazon / Green New Homes Campaign is\, how we can build a movement to tax big business\, what’s the role of the Democratic Party in the fight over taxing Amazon and wider reforms\, and what can we do in District 3 to win an Amazon Tax for Covid Relief & Green New Homes? \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87899859618 \nMeeting ID: 878 9985 9618 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

SUMMARY:Teamster Rebellion: District 3 Reading Discussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Join District 3 members to discus Chapters 8-10 of Teamster Rebellion. \n“Teamster Rebellion” is the dynamic story of  one of the most important strikes in modern labor history\, from one of the main organizers. The Teamsters strike in Minneapolis in 1934 was an all out war between the workers and the entire ruling class\, their corporate media\, armed thugs\, and the police. The National Guard was even mobilized! And the union drive and strike was led by socialists! And the workers won! Their victory set the standard for militancy\, rank and file democracy\, and how socialists can effectively engage in the labor movement\, and more!  And the gains they won inspired other enormous gains for working people through struggle and\, not for nothing\, the contract they won set the standard for the next 70 years!  This struggle is rich with lessons for us now as we enter a period that will be inflamed with the potential to build the socialist movement! \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/84509012329

SUMMARY:Rosa Luxemburg Biography Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:Join the Seattle DSA District 2 reading group on the biography of Rosa Luxemberg by Paul Frölich. Rosa Luxemburg was an inspirational revolutionary leader\, socialist theoretician\, and tireless fighter for the working class right up until the moment when she was tragically murdered during the German Revolution. \nWhile Lenin and the Russian socialists faced brutal oppression which left little room for reformist hopes\, in Germany the situation was far different. The Social-Democratic Party of Germany  (SPD) included labor unionists\, social democrats\, democratic socialists\, revolutionaries of all stripes\, and many who hoped that socialism could be achieved through a peaceful and democratic path. \nThe situation was made immeasurably more complex by the collapse of the 2nd International at the onset of the first World War\, as well as the Russian Revolution which followed shortly. In this confusing situation\, the clarity of thought and the fighting spirit of Rosa Luxemberg were completely unmatched. She expanded Marxist theory with important works on imperialism and economics and fought ceaselessly for social revolution. Ultimately\, she was betrayed and murdered on orders from reformist leaders of the SPD during the failed German Revolution. \nPaul Frölich\, the author\, was a contemporary and comrade of Red Rosa. While many would have settled for a simple hagiography\, his work takes a serious look at Rosa Luxemberg’s politics and the thinking behind it. In a time where the socialist left is once again at a crossroads between the dual pull of reformist and revolutionary tendencies\, Frölich’s work raises essential questions on the nature of capitalism and the road to socialist transformation. \nIn her famous work Reform or Revolution\, Rosa Luxemburg concluded that “Between social reforms and revolution there exists for an inseparable connection. The struggle for reforms is its means; the social revolution\, its aim.” This group is hosted by Seattle DSA District 2. All socialists in any place are welcome to join. \nReading: Chapter 6 required \nMeet time: 5:30 to 7:00 PST \nhttps://zoom.us/j/94759328597 \nMeeting ID: 947 5932 8597 \nAgenda \n5:30 – 5:40 Introductions and current events \n5:40 – 5:50 Summary of the reading by our volunteers\n5:50 – 6:50 Main discussion \n6:50 – 7:00 Planning the next meeting \n  \nQuestions? email the organizer at robertclambertz@gmail.com \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Tax Amazon for Green New Homes Committee Meeting & Phone Bank
DESCRIPTION:Background \nSince January\, the Tax Amazon coalition has been fighting for Seattle to pass a tax on the 800 richest corporations to provide immediate covid relief to Seattleites and to fund the construction of union-built green housing and home retrofitting\, putting thousands of people back to work after covid. The recent move by the City Council to delay discussing this legislation means we can’t rely on them to stand up to big business. We need to go all out to get the Amazon tax for green homes and green jobs on the November ballot and take the matter directly to the voters! Seattle DSA’s campaign as part of the Tax Amazon coalition is called Green New Homes because that’s what we’re fighting for. We have until approximately July 1 to help the coalition collect 21k valid signatures. \nThis Tuesday: Committee Meeting and Phone Bank \nWe’ve sent the ballot petition to every Seattle DSA member (didn’t get yours? Fill out this form). Now we need to follow up and make sure all our comrades sign the petition\, get others in their household to sign\, and send it back. \nOn Tuesday we’ll talk game plan for the next several weeks of our campaign: \n\n“Amazon Tax Prime” petition and delivery service\, an effort of the Tax Amazon coalition\nDistrict group phone banks and organizing\nInterstate banner drops\nNeighborhood postering\nDistrict community forums\n\nAnd then continue phone banking SDSA members to follow up with them about the ballot petition. \nIf you’re interested in getting involved in Tax Amazon for Green New Homes\, this is a great meeting to come to! \nFind the zoom link on slack (Tax Amazon committee channel) if you’re an SDSA member\, or register here. \nQuestions? email info@GreenNewHomes.org

SUMMARY:Covid Is the Newest Excuse for Police Brutality Next District 5 mtg
DESCRIPTION:Join SDSA District 5 for a discussion on police brutality this Tues\, May 19th 6:30pm.  \nAs long as there have been police\, there has been police brutality\, but the death of Trayvon Martin in 2012 and subsequent founding of the Black Lives Matter movement the following year served as an eye opener to many on just how deep the problem runs. Now\, in the age of Coronavirus\, we’re witnessing an even starker contrast in the undeniable reality of how police approach communities of color. \nWhat is the true role of the police? What would a society without the police look like? \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/85183337343 \nMeeting ID: 851 8333 7343 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

SUMMARY:Rosa Luxemburg’s Reform or Revolution: District 5 Discussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Join District 5 members for a dynamic discussion group on the reading “Reform or Revolution” by Rose Luxemburg this coming SUNDAY at NOON.  We’ll be reading and discussing the Chapters 1-4 (less than 20 pages). \nThis reading deals with the questions of whether we should fight for reforms and\, if so\, how?  Can we reform our way to socialism? Is it enough to elect a majority of socialist representatives? Is it possible to reform the capitalist system? Or do we need to overthrow capitalism with a mass movement and a revolutionary party of the working class? \nBring your thoughts\, ideas\, and questions!  Even if you don’t have time to read all of it (or any of it!)\, come anyway! \nReform or Revolution: https://www.marxists.org/archive/luxemburg/1900/reform-revolution/ch01.htm \nCheck the District 5 slack or text 402-915-1242 for the call in info.

SUMMARY:The Killings of George Floyd & Ahmaud Arbery: How should socialists fight racism & what can DSA do in Seattle? Next District 3 Mtg
DESCRIPTION:Join DSA District 3 members to discuss… \nThe killing of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia and the disproportionate effects of COVID19 on communities of color have brought to the fore\, once again\, the brutal reality for people of color under capitalism – unrelenting misery and oppression. How do we build a multi-racial movement in the US today in the era of Trump\, an open racist\, with our history of slavery and racism? What is the role of socialists in the fight against racism?  What can we do in Seattle DSA\, in Seattle\, in solidarity with the mass movement in Minneapolis that is demanding the police be arrested?   \nWe’ll also be discussing the tax Amazon for Green New Homes 🏡 campaign. The month of June is a critical month in the pursuit of 21\,000 signatures to get on the ballot in November.  Have you filled out your petition that was mailed to every Seattle DSA member? Need a petition or it picked up by a DSA member? Contact us! \nZoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81725270213

SUMMARY:Critical Pedagogy Reading Group: Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed
DESCRIPTION:Join the Seattle DSA Critical and Revolutionary Pedagogy Reading Group to discuss Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1970.) Freire\, a Brazilian educator and philosopher\, was an advocate of “critical pedagogy” and believed that education cannot be divorced from politics and considered the acts of teaching and learning to be profoundly political acts. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed he offers a detailed class analysis of the relationship between colonizer and colonized within the framework of education. He famously critiques traditional education as an act of objectification and dehumanization that serves only the oppressors and keeps the oppressed out of power. Freire’s work has deeply influenced social movement leaders and organizers and has immediate implications for SDSA’s organizing work. \nReading: Preface and Chapter 1\n\nFor more information and to RSVP\, please contact Allen: rabaros[at]gmail.com

SUMMARY:Tax Amazon Signature Gathering
DESCRIPTION:A revolt is happening in society. People across the world are rising up for Black Lives\, for an end to the brutal police system used to enforce the domination of capital and capitalists over our lives; and an end to a system as a whole that lets 1 in 2000 black people die from Corona\, people to live in generations of hardship\, subpar housing\, underemployment\, long commutes\, broken up communities trying to hang on.  \nA key demand emerging out of the movement is: We need to defund the police\, take back our wealth from big business which makes daily use of the police and ICE\, and investment instead in our communities. \nDSA calls to: \n\nDefund the police\nStop the brutal attacks on protesters\nTax big business to fund the largest investment in affordable housing in this city’s history\n\nWe are fighting on all fronts. For Tax Amazon\, we have the next four weeks to help collect 21k signatures. \nJoin us each Sunday\, 11am-1pm to help collect signatures. We’ll be doing this through tabling in front of grocery stores in as many districts as possible and phone/text banking. Our tabling will follow the strictest measures of social distancing and public health precautions\, including gloves\, masks\, and single-use pens. \nFind a grocery store table happening in your district: \nDistrict 2: Sunday 6/7\n11am-1pm\, Othello light rail station. Help us collect signatures for the Tax Amazon ballot initiative and encourage turnout for the march for black lives at Othello Park at 2 PM. \nAre you in another district and want to organize a Tax Amazon table? SUMMARY:BLM Uprising: As democratic socialists how can we support this historic uprising? Next District 5 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join District 5 members to discuss… \nThe murder in broad daylight of George Floyd has triggered massive popular protest worldwide\, not because it is a single event\, but because of the terror of racism that Black people have faced in this country since it was founded. SUMMARY:BLM Uprising: How can the movement win & how should DSA support it? Next District 3 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join District 3 members to discuss our experiences\, what we think about the movement thus far and where we think it could go\, what we think DSA could be doing or should be doing\, what’s the role of socialists\, how we think the movement can win the demand to defund the police and whether DSA should support the demand to abolish the police.\n \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/81896775544\nMeeting ID: 818 9677 5544\n+12532158782 (Tacoma) \n2 weeks into the uprising and the movement is still going strong.  This past weekend hundreds of thousands took to the streets\, this weekend promises more of the same.  The demand to defund the police has gained unprecedented momentum and\, according to recent polls\, 70% of Americans say there needs to be serious police reforms and by a margin of 2-1 support the protests.  But how can we win this demand? What role can DSA play? And more broadly\, what is the role of socialists? The ruling class is currently on its heels and are forced to accept reforms and they will try to divide the movement and stamp it out.  One way they may try to divide the movement is over the demand being raised by some in the movement of abolishing the police.  Should DSA support this demand?

SUMMARY:Should DSA support the call to abolish the police? & How can we abolish the police? Next District 3 Meeting
DESCRIPTION:One of the central demands that has emerged from the BLM uprising is to defund the police.  Alongside this\, many are going further and demanding to abolish the police.  Should DSA take up this call to abolish the police? What does it mean to abolish the police? Is this possible under capitalism? How would public safety look under socialism? \nAmerican public opinion is undergoing a transformative change in the wake of the George Floyd protests. Three-quarters of the country supports the demonstrations. An equal percentage believe Floyd’s death is a sign of broader problems in how police treat black Americans. New polls show broad support for a wide array of police reform measures. \nThe only policy that had clear opposition was defunding the police. How can we win a majority to support the demand to defund the police?  \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/85968340290 \nMeeting ID: 859 6834 0290 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

We will also discuss the protest that Seattle DSA’s Local Council and our Afrosocialists and Socialists of Color Caucus agreed to organize soon in coordination with coalition partners. \nPlease mark your calendar: This Saturday\, June 20th\, 2 – 4 pm. \nIf you are a co-chair of a working group or district groups or if you are a Local Council member\, please RSVP here in order to get the Zoom link. \n\nThe Internal Organizers will send an agenda for co-chairs and Local Council members to review in the next couple days. In the meantime\, feel free to respond to us with any ideas for the agenda. \nThese meetings take place on the third Saturday of every month from 2- 4 pm — online during the pandemic. We expect daily protests to continue through Saturday\, which DSA members have been involved in every day. Nonetheless\, we think it’s important that we take one afternoon to meet and discuss these important issues. If something changes we will let you know\, but you can expect that we will be meeting as planned. \nWe’re looking forward to seeing everyone again\, and getting started on some of the awesome ideas that came up at our last meeting! \nIn Solidarity\, \nRamy\, Hannah\, and Manya (your Internal Organizers)

SUMMARY:Critical Pedagogy Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:Join the Seattle DSA Critical and Revolutionary Pedagogy Reading Group to discuss Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1970.) Frieire\, a Brazilian educator and philosopher was an advocate of “critical pedagogy” who believed that education cannot be divorced from politics and considered the acts of teaching and learning to be profoundly political acts. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed he offers a detailed class analysis of the relationship between colonizer and colonized within the framework of education. He famously critiques traditional education as an act of objectification and dehumanization that servers only the oppressors and keeps the oppressed out of power.\nPlease join us on Saturday\, June 27th at 12:30pm via zoom.\nReading: Chapter 3\nFor more information please contact Allen rabaros@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Rosa Luxemburg Bio Reading Group
\nReading: Chapter 9 required \nMeet time: 2:00 to 3:30 PST \nhttps://zoom.us/j/94759328597 \nMeeting ID: 947 5932 8597 \nQuestions? email the organizer at robertclambertz@gmail.com

Frieire\, a Brazilian educator and philosopher was an advocate of “critical pedagogy” who believed that education cannot be divorced from politics and considered the acts of teaching and learning to be profoundly political acts. In Pedagogy of the Oppressed he offers a detailed class analysis of the relationship between colonizer and colonized within the framework of education. He famously critiques traditional education as an act of objectification and dehumanization that servers only the oppressors and keeps the oppressed out of power. \nPlease joins us on Saturday\, July 311th at 12:30pm via zoom.\nReading: Chapter 4 of Pedagogy of the Oppressed\nLink to PDF of Pedagogy of the Oppressed\nFor more information please contact Allen\nrabaros@gmail.com

SUMMARY:#BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation Next District 3 Reading Discussion Group
DESCRIPTION:Join District 3 members to discuss… \nFrom #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation\nBy Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor \nYou can find the book here: https://b-ok.cc/book/2837404/130bf3 \nThe eruption of mass protests in the wake of the police murders of Michael Brown in Ferguson\, Missouri and Eric Garner in New York City have challenged the impunity with which officers of the law carry out violence against Black people and the illusion of a postracial America. The Black Lives Matter movement has awakened a new generation of activists. \nIn this stirring and insightful analysis\, activist and scholar Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor surveys the historical and contemporary ravages of racism and persistence of structural inequality such as mass incarceration and Black unemployment. In this context\, she argues that this new struggle against police violence holds the potential to reignite a broader push for Black liberation. \nOn Sunday\, July 12 at 6pm we’ll be discussing the Introduction and Chapter 1.\n\n\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87588904982 \nMeeting ID: 875 8890 4982 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

SUMMARY:Rosa Luxemburg Bio Reading Group
\nReading: Chapter 9 required \nMeet time: 2:00 to 3:30 PST \nhttps://zoom.us/j/94759328597 \nMeeting ID: 947 5932 8597 \nQuestions? email the organizer at robertclambertz@gmail.com

SUMMARY:UPDATE: Portland Frontline Eyewitness: Portland DSA Member & 2020 Presidential Election: What should DSA do?
DESCRIPTION:Join us to hear from a Portland DSA member on the savage attacks by Federal agents in Portland\, what’s happening on the ground\, and where this could be heading. \nThere are only 4 months until the Presidential election.  As the election draws nearer there will be mounting pressure to support Biden to defeat Trump. Currently\, the National Political Committee of DSA (National elected leadership) has put forward an abstentionist position\, endorsing no candidates\, and not providing a concrete strategy for DSA members to engage in the historic elections or using the elections to advance the resolution passed at the 2019 DSA National Convention of supporting the formation of a working class political party. What should DSA’s approach be to the presidential elections? \nSome Seattle DSA members have put forward a resolution for SDSA to endorse Howie Hawkins and call for a vote for him in “safe states” (states that will overwhelmingly likely vote for Biden\, like WA state) to be voted on at the August SDSA General Membership meeting. (Howie Hawkins campaign website: https://howiehawkins.us)  \nJoin us to discuss what should DSA do in the 2020 Presidential elections\, abstain\, endorse Howie Hawkins and call for a “safe state” strategy\, or another path? \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/85669246835 \nMeeting ID: 856 6924 6835 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

SUMMARY:DSA Organizing Committee meeting
DESCRIPTION:Co-chairs of Working Groups and District Groups as well as Local Council members are invited to the third monthly meeting of the Organizing Committee. \nThe Internal Organizers are thinking the 2 main agenda topics for this meeting should be: \n(1) How can we win the defunding of SPD by 50%? \n(2) Resolutions the SDSA membership will vote on at the August General Membership Meeting \nThere is room on the agenda for a few other items\, and we’d really love these meetings to be a collaborative process. So we’d love to get your input on the agenda! Are there items you’d like the whole group to discuss or help plan? Please post suggestions in the Slack Organizing Committee channel\, preferably by Thurs July 23 at 10 a.m. \nJuly 18 at midnight is/was the deadline for members to submit resolutions for the chapter to vote on at the August business meeting. An initial discussion on these resolutions at our Organizing Committee meeting will provide some of our most active members more information about the resolutions and an opportunity to ask questions and potentially have some comradely discussion. This should help co-chairs decide whether there are relevant resolutions to bring to your specific working group or district group for discussion and feedback before the General Membership Meeting. \nPlease mark your calendar for the Organizing Committee meeting: Sat. July 25 at 2 pm. \nAnd most importantly\, please RSVP here to get the Zoom link! \nMembers interested in observing this meeting are invited to RSVP as well.

DESCRIPTION:Join District 3 members to discuss… \nFrom #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation\nBy Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor \n\nOn Sunday\, July 26 at 6pm we’ll be discussing Chapter 4 and 5. \n**If you don’t have time to finish all of it or any of it – come anyway! We’ll have a good discussion and your views are appreciated!** \nThe eruption of mass protests in the wake of the police murders of Michael Brown in Ferguson\, Missouri and Eric Garner in New York City have challenged the impunity with which officers of the law carry out violence against Black people and the illusion of a postracial America. All socialists in any place are welcome to join. \nReading: Chapter 9 required \nMeet time: 2:00 to 3:30 PST \nhttps://zoom.us/j/94759328597 \nMeeting ID: 947 5932 8597 \nQuestions? email the organizer at robertclambertz@gmail.com

SUMMARY:D2 Group Discussion: When Race and Gender Become Weapons of the Capitalist Class
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis week Carmen Best resigned from her role as chief of the Seattle Police Department and Kamala Harris joined the Democratic ticket as Joe Biden’s running mate. How do we analyze the capitalist weaponization of race and gender without resorting to class reductionism? How do we develop an intersectional socialist analysis aligned with the projects of Black liberation and decolonization? \nJoin SDSA’s District 2 Group in a discussion (via Zoom) of recent events and their implications. We’ll also devote a little time to start the process of power mapping so we can support our chapter’s efforts to defund SPD. \nRSVP here for Zoom details.

SUMMARY:District 3 Phonebank: Calling our fellow SDSA District 3 members
DESCRIPTION:Join your District 3 comrades for an internal phonebank! We’ll be calling up our fellow friendly neighborhood socialists to mobilize them to upcoming events and engage in political discussion. Most importantly\, we’ll be talking to folks about organizing online town halls this Fall to put pressure on wavering City Council members to stick to their promises of defunding SPD by at least 50%! This is an important way we as DSA can contribute to the movement calling to defund the police and reallocate funding to Black working-class communities. It’s also important for us as socialists in a political organization to engage each other in conversation for our collective political development\, especially as the pandemic continues and many of our comrades feel isolated. \nThis is a fun\, easy action to take. We’ll meetup on Zoom before making calls to prepare. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83060748693 \nMeeting ID: 830 6074 8693 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

SUMMARY:The Murder of Fred Hampton: District 3 Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join Seattle DSA District 3 for a ZOOM screening and discussion of the 1971 documentary film\, The Murder of Fred Hampton. \nThe Black Panther Party was the most significant independent Black revolutionary movement in North America and the most radical mass organization of the Civil Rights Era. It brought together thousands of Black people to protect themselves from racist police violence and white supremacy and provided community support through social programs like the Free Breakfast for Children Program\, and was organized on a platform of explicit revolutionary socialism. \nFred Hampton was the Illinois chairman of the Black Panther Party when he was murdered in his home by police and FBI agents in 1969. This documentary portrays the Black Panther Party\, Hamptons role in the Chicago Black Panther Party and his murder by the police. \nJoin us after the film for a discussion on the lessons for our struggle against police brutality and endemic racism under capitalism. \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/82278319223

SUMMARY:D2 Monthly Meeting – A Third Party for the Working Class: Not If but When
DESCRIPTION:Join comrades from District 2 (southeast Seattle) on Thursday August 20\, 6-8 pm\, for a lively Zoom discussion on the prospects for an independent working-class political party. \nAt the DSA national convention in 2019\, delegates overwhelmingly voted in favor of a resolution titled “Class Struggle Elections”  which stated: \nDSA is committed to building political organization independent of the Democratic Party and their capitalist donors …  In the longer term\, our goal is to form an independent working-class party\, but for now this does not rule out DSA-endorsed candidates running tactically on the Democratic Party ballot line. \nWithin Seattle DSA\, there exist multiple opinions on the timeframe for this activity. At our August 20 district 2 meeting\, you will have a chance to discuss these alternatives. Two comrades from Seattle DSA will set the stage by presenting two of the more widely held positions\, one in favor of a more short-term break with the Democratic Party\, and one in favor of the so-called “dirty break” strategy. \nBefore discussing our relationship with the Democratic Party and prospects of an independent working class party\, we will spend some time on the more immediate issue of police accountability\, with a power mapping exercise within D2. \nFor Zoom details\, RSVP here.

SUMMARY:AOC\, Cori Bush & Biden: The Coming Collision in the Democratic Party Next District 3 Mtg
DESCRIPTION:Join Seattle DSA District 3 members to discuss… \nThe Democratic National Convention represented the consolidation of the moderate\, pro-corporate wing of the Democratic Party and a repudiation of the politics of Bernie Sanders\, AOC\, and the insurgent left wing candidates like Cori Bush\, a BLM activist and DSA member who defeated a dynastic incumbent from the Black Democratic Party establishment. In NY\, five DSA members were elected to office. One\, Jaamal Bowman\, unseated a 16 term incumbent from the Democratic Party establishment\, and will add to the Squad in Congress. What do the victories by left wing candidates signify? Can they co-exist with the Biden/Harris wing? Can we reform the Democratic Party and use it to fight for our interests? Or do we need to take steps toward a new political party? What is the role of Socialists in Congress? What can DSA do to hasten the collision between the establishment and the left wing? \nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/85781955721 \nMeeting ID: 857 8195 5721 \n+12532158782 (Tacoma)

SUMMARY:Special Membership Meeting: Sherae for State
