On the heels of powerful grassroots momentum to Tax Amazon and big business on a scale commensurate with the gravity of the crisis, the political establishment and big business are pushing the newly introduced House Bill 2907 as an alternative. HB 2907 would provide far too little for the scale of the crisis. But most threateningly, corporate politicians and big business are proposing adding a number of corporate loopholes, as well as the poison pill of a “pre-emption” clause. This clause would create an anti-democratic ban on progressive taxation by cities. Please sign the petition demanding no preemption clause.
