What We Do
The Seattle chapter of the Afrosocialists and Socialists of Color Caucus is a group dedicated to navigating the intersectionality of class and race while opposing class reductionism and race essentialism. We recognize that the personal is political and acknowledge that our lives as people of color are political and wrapped in trauma. We aim to recapture the radical language and practices that have been perverted by capitalism and neoliberalism through reeducation of our Black and brown community members. We also work to explore and better understand our own racial identities such that they become the point of departure for discovering the universe of ideas, cultures, and experiences beyond our own racial experiences. A goal of our space is to act as a network that will support and develop non-white DSA organizers as leaders in the organization & beyond.
