Last year was hard. This year offers the same. But it also offers hope – Starbucks workers are rising up to unionize. Moreover, last years 10/2 Womens March for reproductive rights points toward the potential for mass struggle to defend Roe v Wade and broadly reproductive rights. Green shoots beneath the debris.
However, dark clouds are on the horizon.
With sinking poll numbers and large portions of Biden’s agenda in tatters, calls for a course correction are growing as fears of a bloodbath in the midterms mount. Jane MacAlevey said last month: “We need way more picket lines and a very different approach to them from [Biden’s] administration, or we are going to face a brutal, brutal discussion a year from now when the House and the Senate are lost … and the possibility of ongoing Trumpism.” We can add: we need way more protests to defend abortion rights, many more actions to fight racism, and many more people involved to build toward a powerful socialist movement.
Join District 3 members (all are welcome!) to discuss why the Biden administration is flailing, what DSA electeds could be doing, and what DSA can do to fight for reforms and build the socialist movement in 2022.
