The United States, as a global superpower, has an outsize influence on the UN Conference of the Parties (COP), the international meeting where countries agree on how to fight climate change. International cooperation is indispensable to fighting a global problem like climate change.
What is climate colonialism? How has the United States influenced previous UN conferences? What role does American and multinational finance/capital play in the UN COP? How can workers and ordinary people use their power to change the current catastrophic course?
This panel serves as an introduction to the UN COP ahead of the November 2021 convening. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet in breakout rooms and share their thoughts with one another.
Keynote from Dr. Doreen E. Martinez (Colorado State University), Sociology PhD and noted Indigenous scholar and author.
