You are invited to join Seattle DSA District 3 for a ZOOM screening and discussion of the 1971 documentary film, The Murder of Fred Hampton.
The Black Panther Party was the most significant independent Black revolutionary movement in North America and the most radical mass organization of the Civil Rights Era. It brought together thousands of Black people to protect themselves from racist police violence and white supremacy and provided community support through social programs like the Free Breakfast for Children Program, and was organized on a platform of explicit revolutionary socialism.
Fred Hampton was the Illinois chairman of the Black Panther Party when he was murdered in his home by police and FBI agents in 1969. This documentary portrays the Black Panther Party, Hamptons role in the Chicago Black Panther Party and his murder by the police.
Join us after the film for a discussion on the lessons for our struggle against police brutality and endemic racism under capitalism.
