So, our progressive income tax ordinance is very close to being ready to go live! The Trump-Proof Seattle Coalition, councilmembers, economists, lawyers, and city staff have all been hard at work. We expect the ordinance to be introduced in time for a special committee meeting and public hearing on the evening of the 14th.
But this week, there are no council meetings to mobilize for. So let’s have a beer instead!
Come on out to the Owl ‘n Thistle Pub near Pioneer Square on Wednesday evening to hang out with great people who care about tax justice. Around 6:30 or 7:00 there will be an update on the progress of the ordinance and what’s in store between now and July 10th, the target date for the final city council vote.
