Public Comment on the Seattle Budget
November 15, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Short URL: https://seattledsa.org/?p=29574
Tuesday, November 15 is the last day for public comment for this budget session. Councilmember Morales has introduced several budget amendments that would help finance I-135 if passed, including:
- OH-002-A-001-2023 – Municipal Housing Administration Team and Fund ($550k)
This would begin the establishment of a new affordable housing model in the City of Seattle. One that is not reliant, or restricted, by current Federal Government affordable housing financing. - OSE-002-A – Green Housing Tradesperson Certification Program ($220k)
Passivhaus is the gold standard for green housing, and we urgently need a program that will teach and certify the building of this housing. - OSE-OO1-A – Green Housing Construction Apprenticeship Program ($2.5m)
This program will create urgently needed opportunities for jobs, education, and the opportunity for Seattle to become a nationwide leader on Green Housing.
None of these amendments were accepted in the budget balancing package. Please call in or attend the public hearing in person to voice your concern on the budget.
Instructions for calling in or attending the meeting are here, as well as directions for emailing your comments to councilmembers. The sign up sheet for public comment opens 2 hours before the meeting.
