Right-wing Capitol Rampage: What does it signify & how should DSA and the Left respond? Next District 3 Meeting

January 14
6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

+ Google Map

This past Wednesday was an outrageous attempt by far-right Trump supporters to disenfranchise millions of working class votes by storming the Capitol building, some with murderous intent. This is universally being referred to as a failed coup attempt and an act of domestic terrorism. Prominent people on the Left are calling for the expulsion of GOP Senators and Representatives on the grounds they incited violence and violated their “sacred oath.” The Democratic Party is moving to impeach Trump again. Social media companies are restricting or locking out Trump. Some in the GOP establishment are distancing themselves from Trump, while sections of big business are calling for him to step down. Is this the end of Trumpism? Was what happened an insurrection? Should DSA support Cori Bush’s call to expel GOP congresspeople? Who stands to benefit from the changed political situation? What demands could Socialists be putting forward?

Join District 3 members (all are welcome!) this Thursday to discuss and analyze these important developments from a socialist perspective.
