Seattle’s Fight for $15: Lessons for Socialists today? Next District 3 meeting (all are welcome!)

March 11, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Biden and the Democratic Party establishment stripped increasing the federal minimum wage to $15/an hour out of the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill despite widespread support in the working class.  While its arguable whether the majority of the Democratic Party establishment truly wanted a $15 an hour minimum wage, what is not is whether they were willing or prepared to fight for it. Can we rely on the Democratic Party? What can DSA, the Left, and the labor movement do to win $15/hour min.wage?

Join District 3 members to hear from one of the organizers of the fight for $15 in Seattle, the first major city to win $15, and discuss what we can learn from that struggle to win $15 across the US today.  We’ll also discuss the International Day of Solidarity with the Amazon warehouse workers fighting to unionize, the upcoming housing justice town hall, and the Kshama Sawant solidarity campaign.
