Socialist Night School: Electoral Politics
August 26, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Short URL: https://seattledsa.org/?p=12281
Socialist Night School is an open course that provides a chance to develop our politics together, regardless of background knowledge or whether you’ve attended a class before. New members and lifelong socialists, all are welcome! To sign up for our mailing list or to find out more, e-mail us at [email protected]
This month we will discuss the often contentious topic of electoral politics. Bernie’s 2016 primary run helped DSA’s membership skyrocket and increased public recognition of DSA, and his 2020 campaign is generating a lot of excitement as well. However, socialists are far from united about how we should engage with electoral work. Can we win meaningful reforms at the ballot box? How can socialists avoid co-optation and neutralization of our efforts? Should socialists run for office at all?
There’s a lot to contemplate and discuss. We hope you’ll join us!
