Spring Two-Stage Hike: First Wheelchair Accessible, then West Tiger 2

Join members of Seattle Democratic Socialists of America for a two-stage hike on Saturday, May 3rd. Each stage will begin AND end at the Puget Sound Transit bus stop at I-90 and 270th Ave SE in Issaquah.

The first stage will be wheelchair accessible and last from 12pm to 2pm. This three-mile-long hike will follow SE 79th Street to the High Point Trailhead parking lot. From there, we will follow the Around the Lake Interpretive Trail, the Bus Trail, and the West Tiger 3 Trail before taking 79th Stret back to the bus stop.

The hike’s second leg will last from 2pm to approximately 6pm. Starting at the High Point Trail, we will climb 2,200 vertical feet to the summit of West Tiger Mountain #2. We will see mossy rainforests, bubbling waterfalls, and spectacular views of the Olympics, the Cascades, and Mount Rainier.

The second stage will be a strenuous five-mile round trip hike with unpredictable weather. If you can, please bring the following to be prepared:

• Hiking boots
• Hiking poles
• A backpack
• A rain jacket
• Sunglasses and sunscreen
• At least a half-gallon of water

Dogs are welcome on the trails as long as they are leashed. A DSA member will be stationed throughout the day by the bus stop at SE 79th Street and I-90 to assist anyone needing guidance or assistance.

Please let us know if you are able to take anyone to and from the trailhead by car that day in the provided form. If you plan on taking public transportation, your best option is the 554 from 2nd and Yesler to the Issaquah Transit Center, transferring to the 208 to 270th Street and I-90 (exit 20)
