If you have a long weekend off, why not show up to support the workers on strike at Starbucks? Starbucks Workers United workers have been out on a slowly escalating strike since 11/13, fighting for their first contract.
If you’re not on the Eastside, you can also join picket lines on Elliott Avenue or University Way on this day. Please check the times, as they vary between picket lines.
How to be a good supporter on a picket line:
Do: Introduce yourself to the workers, ask how you can help, join chants, wave signs, ask about why they’re striking, eat one donut if there are extras.
Don’t: Try to recruit workers, stand off by yourself, try and take a leadership role, eat all the donuts.
This is the workers’ fight and we want them to win. However they choose to carry forward that struggle, we’re there to back them up!
