The death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg has catapulted the 2020 presidential elections into an inferno. It’s likely Trump and the GOP will attempt to install a right wing justice that would threaten key reforms like abortion rights. What is under threat with the appointment of a right wing Justice? What role does the Supreme Court play and what determines the law? Some on the left are saying that the Supreme Court has been and is inherently a right wing, pro-capitalist institution so it doesn’t really matter if another right wing Justice is confirmed, is this true? Should we instead focus on building movements, like BLM, instead? Or should DSA and the Left organize mass protests? If so, what should we demand? How were abortions rights and gay marriage won in the first place? What is the best way to defend and advance those reforms? Join DSA District 3 members to discuss these key political questions and issues.
