Seattle DSA is Hiring Part-Time Staff!

At the September 2022 DSA Seattle Chapter General Meeting, our membership voted to create two new paid part-time DSA organizing jobs: a Communications Staffer and a Campaign Organizer (initially focusing on South King County). We are now inviting people to apply to either or both of these positions by submitting your resume and cover letter (no more than one page single spaced each) to [email protected]. Please indicate which position(s) you are interested in your cover letter. The deadline for the applications is 11:59pm on Tuesday, October 25th.

Please feel free to forward this on to people you know who might be interested. Seattle DSA is an equal opportunity employer and committed to a staff that reflects the working class. We strongly encourage and seek applications from BIPOC, DREAMers, women, people with disabilities, parents, as well as members of the LGBTQ communities.

Job Descriptions

These jobs are new organizing positions that Seattle DSA is piloting. We have never done anything like this before which is exciting but also means that there is some room for flexibility and expectations for consistent communication throughout this process. Both positions are temporary part-time positions through April 20, with the possibility of becoming permanent depending on the decisions of the March 2023 Seattle DSA Convention.

Both staffers will be expected to attend Local Council meetings, coordinate primarily with leadership to set a working schedule for the position, set organizing goals, as well as check-in regularly on progress towards those goals. Both staffers will work with the Fundraising Committee to develop Seattle DSA’s fundraising infrastructure that can be used to grow the chapter’s financial position. This will include recruiting more members to participate in our voluntary monthly dues program and staff fund.

They will also assist Seattle DSA’s Local Council with running the chapter. For example:

  • Recruiting and overseeing members to do Action Network Data Entry
  • Booking event spaces

    • When our priority campaigns have big pushes, e.g. major GOTV efforts before an election or important rallies that need extra turnout, the staff person will be directed to help organize these efforts. This could include organizing phone banks or canvasses, sign-making parties, organizing trainings, etc.
