Tax Amazon Phone Bank: The Movement Starts Here!

January 5, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm

It’s time for Amazon to pay!

Join us to phone bank DSA members about how we should use the funds we could raise from a substantial tax on big business.

Working people suffer from rising rents, rising homelessness, rising transit costs, rising sea levels, and rising healthcare costs. Meanwhile, Amazon and other big corporations get away with paying $0 in federal taxes. A modest local tax on big business to build affordable housing was killed by Amazon in 2018 by threatening to move out of the city. The majority of the City Council caved in to Amazon’s bullying, rather than fighting back by helping build the movement we need to win. Amazon then went after City Council candidates who they saw as a threat to their interests, spending a record $4.5 million in our local elections.

Seattle DSA is helping build the movement to tax Amazon and other big corporations locally to fund vital services.

Join us to phone bank DSA members about how we should use the funds we could raise from a substantial tax on big business, and to turn out members to important upcoming events:
