Coronavirus Crisis Response: What can Seattle DSA do? District 3 Zoom/Phone Meeting

March 19, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join District 3 members for a special Zoom/phone meeting this THURSDAY to discuss the broadening social, economic, and political impact of the coronavirus and what we can do as DSA in our communities and/or city to address the potential economic and social crisis for working people.

Mayor Durkan, under pressure from Socialist Councilmember Kshama Sawant and Councilmember Tammy Morales, recently passed a moratorium on evictions. This is the same Mayor Durkan who raked in massive campaign contributions in 2017 from the biggest developers and landlords in the city. This points to a potential opportunity to force big business to shoulder the burden rather than working people, it may be like pushing on an open door.  What demands can DSA make to further alleviate the burden on working people and the poor who will be forced to pay for this crisis through layoffs, lost wages, and healthcare costs?  What other initiatives can DSA take to help working people self-organize relief efforts in our communities?

We’ll also be discussing this week’s debate between Bernie and Biden and perspectives for the primaries.
