COVID19 Crisis: What is a Socialist Feminist View and Response? Next District 3

April 23, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Politicians like to say that we are all in this together, that this crisis hits rich and poor alike, and while we know this virus will strike any and all, we also know that working people will face the brunt of the crisis and will be forced to pay for it long after its gone. We also know that within the working class, women and people of color are and will continue to be disproportionately impacted.  From being on the frontlines as essential workers, to the main caregiver to the family, to experiencing spikes in domestic violence – women, and in particular women of color, are impacted by the crisis in a uniquely terrible way.

Join District 3 members to discuss, how and why are women disproportionately impacted by the economic and social catastrophe of coronavirus?  Why are women oppressed under capitalism? What does this tell us about capitalism? How would socialism be different? What socialist feminist demands for COVID19 relief could DSA make?

We’ll also discuss COVID19 Organizing in District 3, Suspend the Rent! Campaign, and District 3 tenant organizing.
