Jacobin Reading Group: Bigger Than Bernie

Join us for a special Jacobin Reading Group in which we discuss what it will take to advance the American socialist movement beyond the Bernie Sanders campaign.

The discussion will be framed around three chapters of Meagan Day and Micah Uetricht’s book, Bigger Than Bernie.

Please read the following chapters prior to the event:

• Chapter 4, The Dirty Break. The Democratic Party is a barrier for socialist organizing, but there are unique structural impediments to starting a mass workers’ party in the United States. How should this be navigated by the socialist movement?
• Chapter 5, Engines of Solidarity. Which reforms are worth fighting for?
• Chapter 6, Rank-and-File Revolution. How should socialists approach labor organizing?
