UPDATE: Portland Frontline Eyewitness: Portland DSA Member & 2020 Presidential Election: What should DSA do?

Join us to hear from a Portland DSA member on the savage attacks by Federal agents in Portland, what’s happening on the ground, and where this could be heading.

There are only 4 months until the Presidential election.  As the election draws nearer there will be mounting pressure to support Biden to defeat Trump. Currently, the National Political Committee of DSA (National elected leadership) has put forward an abstentionist position, endorsing no candidates, and not providing a concrete strategy for DSA members to engage in the historic elections or using the elections to advance the resolution passed at the 2019 DSA National Convention of supporting the formation of a working class political party. What should DSA’s approach be to the presidential elections?

Some Seattle DSA members have put forward a resolution for SDSA to endorse Howie Hawkins and call for a vote for him in “safe states” (states that will overwhelmingly likely vote for Biden, like WA state) to be voted on at the August SDSA General Membership meeting.
