Take to the Streets: Defund the Police March and Rally

July 30, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

We’re approaching the final week leading up to a historic Seattle City Council vote to re-balance the 2020 budget and defund the Seattle Police Department. The final vote was just postponed one week until Monday, August 10.

Slashing SPD’s budget in half would be a victory that would give hope and confidence to the uprising for black lives across the country. Seven out of nice city councilmembers pledged to defund SPD by 50%. However, Mayor Durkan, the police, and capitalist media are pushing back hard. Decriminalize Seattle & King County Equity Now have organized an important rally to keep up the pressure on City Council.

Take to the Streets: Defund the Police March and Rally
Rally at the Youth Jail (12th & Alder) and march to City Hall while the city council is meeting.

Visit Decriminalize Seattle for call and email scripts for City Council public comment. Public comment is Friday, July 31st at 10 AM (sign up at 8 AM sharp) and Monday, August 3rd at 2 PM (sign up at 12 PM sharp).
