Defund SPD & Reinvest in Community Teach-in

November 16, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Tens of thousands of people protested for months, urging Mayor Durkan and the City Council to defund the Seattle Police Department by 50% and reinvest those funds in community-led health and safety services. As a result, 7 out of 9 council members pledged to defund the SPD by 50%. However, the city council’s new budget proposal would defund the Seattle Police Department by only 17%.

As the City Council finalizes the 2021 budget, the community must demand that the Council fulfills its promise to defund SPD by 50%. Join us for an online teach-in on defunding SPD and reinvesting in community with community organizer and activist Nikkita Oliver, and activist and educator Jesse Hagopian. Come sign up to speak, or just come watch, and invite family and friends!
