Alabama Amazon Workers Rally Planning Meeting

March 18, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Seattle DSA is holding another rally Saturday March 20th at 2 pm to support the Alabama Amazon warehouse workers who are fighting to form the nation’s first union at an Amazon workplace!!

Join us for a meeting to plan the rally on the International Day of Solidarity with Alabama Amazon Workers. No experience needed.

Nearly 5,800 workers, 70% of whom are Black, have begun standing up against the second largest company in the country and the second richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos.  In 2020, Bezos made $35 MILLION PER HOUR, while most Amazon workers made only $15 per hour. They also work under grueling, unsafe, stressful conditions, risking their lives during the pandemic.  If this union election wins, the impact on labor organizing in the south and around the country, on building BIPOC-led worker power, would be enormous. However, Amazon has spent nearly $10,000 PER DAY on a powerful propaganda campaign to pressure workers to vote against unionizing.

A strong show of solidarity here in Amazon’s hometown will send an inspiring message to the Alabama workers that we’ve got their back.  Let’s send a strong message at the international headquarters of this corporate behemoth on this International Day of Action!

Please RSVP for the rally here! (The rally will be socially distanced.)

Endorsed by: Labor for Black Lives, Seattle Education Association, UNITE HERE Local 8, International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 52, Social Equity Educators, 350.org Seattle Action, City Councilmember Kshama Sawant, United Auto Workers Local 4121, National Educators United, Committee to Stop Police Terror & Systemic Racism, Socialist Alternative, and Freedom Socialist Party.

Speakers will educate people about the PRO Act, which would remove legal obstacles to unionization, and we’ll call on President Biden and the Senate to pass this crucial bill.

Please let [email protected] know if your union or organization can endorse this rally.
