District 2: Review Nikkita and NTK campaign, outlook Stephanie Gallardo campaign – special feature: Who is Adam Smith?

November 18, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Hi comrades,

Come join us in person, physically distanced at the outdoor Columbia City Patio, https://tinyurl.com/ColumbiaCityPatio, Thursday, November 18, 6.30pm to reflect together on the recent elections locally and nationally.

Though we didn’t win the Nikkita Oliver and Nicole Thomas-Kennedy campaigns, we laid important groundwork for the democratic socialist future we are fighting for.

Many of us are taking well-earned time to rest and reflect after fighting hard to get Nikkita and NTK elected. A lot of us are worried about what things are going to be like in Seattle now with a new mayor and a “law-and-order” Republican city attorney.

We are reeling, too, from the national election results. We are shouldering the gutting disappointment of what’s been cut from the spending bills and the betrayal of the Progressive Caucus. The right made gains, as the Democrats’ failed to deliver on the expectations of working class and oppressed people. Obviously, this also made it harder for the left in Seattle to win.

Now, the corporate media is blaming the left for those losses! After not delivering on canceling student debt, expanding health care, defending voting rights of BIPOC communities, free public colleges and so on, the New York Times Editorial Board urges the Democrats to further shift to the right and “return to the moderate policies and values that fueled the blue-wave victories in 2018 and won Joe Biden the presidency in 2020”!

Let’s come together, reflect on the campaigns and share ideas on how to move forward, including hearing more about Stephanie Gallardo’s campaign to unseat incumbent moderate Democrat Adam Smith in 2022.

In solidarity,

Your D2 CoConveners
