The Texas abortion ban is an unprecedented and draconian attack on reproductive rights.  For the first time since the passage of Roe v Wade in 1973, the US Supreme Court has consciously failed to protect the constitutionally protected right for abortion, effectively overturning Roe v Wade for millions of women in Texas.  

While this dastardly law effects all women, it will disproportionately impact poor women, women of color, undocumented immigrants, and Black women all of whom make up the majority of women who seek abortions in Texas.  This law represents a clear and present danger to reproductive rights and it is not at all certain Roe v Wade will survive, especially given the raft of copycat bills following in its wake and the Mississippi “heartbeat” bill the US Supreme Court will begin deliberation on in the fall.

Join District 3 to discuss  these important questions and how abortion rights were won in the first place.  We’ll also discuss what we can do in Seattle to join the National Day of Action against the abortion ban on October 2nd.
