Join us this Thursday at 5:00pm at Aladdin Gyro-Cery in the U District to hear from Huda Abu Obaid, the Executive Director of the Negev Co-existence Forum for Civil Equality and a Palestinian human rights defender from the Bedouin town of Lakiya in The Negev.
Huda’s human rights work focuses on the issues of the Bedouin community, especially the demolishing of the houses of the Bedouin population, and advocates for the recognition of the unrecognized villages in The Negev. Huda was one of the founders of a youth movement who led the resistance against the Israeli Prawer Plan which aimed to uproot the residents of the unrecognized Negev villages.
The NCF works with community leaders in Arab-Bedouin villages to ensure the delivery of vital basic services to their communities. NCF’s mission is to achieve full civil rights and equality for all those living in the Negev, since the State of Israel fails to respect, protect and fulfill its human rights obligations, without discrimination, towards the Arab-Bedouin citizens in the Negev.
Food is available for purchase.
