Community Panel on Fort Lawton Redevelopment

February 27, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Hosted by Real Change Homeless Empowerment Project

The City of Seattle is currently establishing a plan to redevelop the 70th Regional Support Command headquarters at Fort Lawton into affordable housing to support the rising needs of the city. This topic has been heavily discussed since 2008, when the plan was first proposed, but was stalled due to concerns of Magnolia residents and the demand for a State Environmental Protection Act review. Last summer, the City of Seattle conducted a scoping process and recently published a Draft Environmental Impact Statement, bringing the discussion back into the forefront of city politics.

The panel discussion is an opportunity to learn more about the project and its ability to address the crucial housing need in our community. The event is also a chance to hear from the opposition. Heidi Groover, reporter with The Stranger, will moderate the event.

Confirmed Panelists:
Elizabeth Campbell, Magnolia Resident
Flo Beaumon, Associate Director of Catholic Community Services
Susan Russell, Real Change Vendor/Housing Advocate
Marco Vargas, CHS Ozanam House Program Manager
Seattle Office of Housing representative

Please join us for what will certainly be a lively discussion!
