Tens of thousands of immigrants are streaming toward the US/Mexico border to escape endemic violence and the economic devastation of the pandemic. After 4 years of Trump’s brutal racist anti-immigrant policies, many are hoping that Biden will follow through on his promise of a humane immigration policy. Unfortunately, it appears the more things change, the more they stay the same. Children are being separated from their families and interned, the construction of the wall continues, and deportations continue apace. At the 2019 DSA National Convention, there was overwhelming support for the demand of “open borders”, should we be calling for this? What is the socialist solution to the growing crisis at the border?
We’ll also be discussing the Kshama Sawant Solidarity Campaign and the Nikita Oliver of City Council race!
