Election Review: The Right made gains – What happened? What now? Nikita Oliver, NTK, India Walton, and more! Next District 3 meeting

November 11, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us (all are welcome!) to discuss the lessons from the impressive campaigns that Nikkita Oliver and Nicole Thomas-Kennedy ran. Despite not winning, we have a lot to build on for a democratic socialist change from those campaigns.

Nationally and here in Seattle, the elections showed that the Democrats’ failure to deliver on the expectations of the working class and the oppressed led to demoralization and allowed the right to make gains. Now, the corporate media and the Democratic Party establishment is blaming the left for the losses! They are saying it’s not the unfulfilled promises that are to blame, but the promises themselves of canceling student debt, expanding health care, defending voting rights of BIPOC communities, free public colleges and so on that are to blame! The New York Times Editorial Board is urging the Democrats to further shift to the right and  “return to the moderate policies and values that fueled the blue-wave victories in 2018 and won Joe Biden the presidency in 2020.”

Let’s discuss if there is a shift to the right among the working class, what led to the GOP making gains, what this means for 2022, what we can learn from the Nikkita Oliver and NTK campaigns and what we can do in the coming weeks and months.
